Bea Ellis

Vivian “Bea” Ellis, PT

Vivian “Bea” Ellis, PT has been practicing Physical Therapy as a licensed PT since April 1983, and has worked in the field of PT since age 16.

She graduated from Texas Woman’s University in December 1982 with a BS in Physical Therapy and a minor in Biology. She began her career in Humble Texas at the then Northeast Medical Center Hospital.

She and Dan Ellis were married in January 1982, and moved home to Livingston Tx in the summer of 1982. She continued to commute to Humble to work, but in late 1983 she was convinced by Mr. Bennie Glover and Mr. E.Y. Brooks to open an outpatient clinic in Livingston, Tx. Although she was emphatic that she was too young, too poor, and too inexperienced, they convinced her there was a need in Livingston, Tx and she was the person to provide it.   With the partnership of her husband, support from many, and God’s provision, Livingston Physical Therapy was established in 1984 with a 4 year plan. Obviously, God had another plan, as Livingston Physical Therapy continues to remain open and providing care for Livingston and Polk County, and all the surrounding counties.

Bea and Dan believe in giving more to their community than receiving, and have tried hard through the years to give back. Bea has served on the Polk County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Polk County Child Welfare Board of Directors, Habitat for Humanity Board of Directors, Polk County Boys and Girls Club Board of Directors, and Livingston ISD Trustee 1993 – 2018, and returned in November 2020.

She and Dan also helped to start and continue to serve on the Board for F.A.I.T.H. (Families and Individuals Thanking Heroes), which meets monthly and packs care packages to send to our Military Heroes around the world who have a personal tie to our area.  Since it was started in June 2006, more than 23,000 care packages have been sent. This Community is outstanding in supporting our Heroes!

Bea and Dan also co-teach a young adults class at Central Baptist Church.

Bea is most proud of her marriage of 39 years to Dan Ellis, and her two sons and their families….Sean and Heather, parents of Greyson and Axel, and Kristopher and Tara, parents of Bowen. She and Dan have many chosen children as well, and life is best when they are all together cooking and playing.

“I am proud of what God has led me to do in Polk County since 1984. I am blessed with the best staff and “family” who give their all every day to take care of our patients. I am blessed with the best patients, who often become family before their treatment is complete. I am blessed that I still love to come to work most every day, and do what I love to do…help others.  I could not do any of this without God’s blessings, my husband Dan and his support, and my family and friends who have often taken back seat to LPT.  Thank you all for allowing me to do what I love!”
